DREAM NOTES

I made up the stuff in Vanikke, to fit with a pending dream.
I dreamed, in the 70's, everything about Deirdre waking up, with a wounded leg, from an unwilling drugged sleep on the back of that mule, with Cyran leading it, but not thinking clearly. I felt alarmed that he seemed to think that a convent would be a place of safety.
I dreamed of the convent somewhat later, but still in the early 70's, about the battle there, not this scene, which I made up. That would have happened more than a year before this, because by the time Deirdre joined the Egalitarians the convents were already getting shut down or starved out, but the battle happened at a time when people thought that they'd be left alone, and that taking care of the wounded of both sides of the conflict was still off-limits to violence. That's when I dreamed of a nun's blood spurting into my mouth, and the horrible realization that it tasted good because I was starving. I woke with a bloody nose to explain the taste in my throat.
At that time I had begun to take communion at church, and when served it in both species, I worried about whether this broke my promise to Grandma to not drink alcohol till I turned 21. With friends I eventually resolved that it was not wine, but the Blood of Christ. But this also touched on my refusal of the call to become a nun. I have wondered ever since if I'm leading a Plan B life.
