I based the march to Abojan on the note in red ink, writing about it as happening when Deirdre herself slipped into something similar to a narcoleptic seizure, in her case a mini-crash induced by flying wired for too long.  But the office incident happened in this world.  (And yes, one of my surgeons did use maggot-therapy, and that picture did fall out of the file.)  From that verbatim note (the dream behind it now forgotten) I knew to include the gunner's perspective, listening to the marching feet.

I also dreamed of the badger, separately.  Why?  I have no idea; I have never even seen one.
