Chapter 57

THE QUEST FOR NORMAL

DREAM NOTES

I wrote the conversation in the cart, the explosion, and Deirdre waking up.  But I did dream that Zanne’s eventual destination lies in a neighborhood in a bend of a river, based on my childhood neighborhood, except that the “river” is in waking life The Canyon.    More on that dream later.

And, as I said, I’ve also dreamed the sexual hysteria in Toulin Academy for Young Gentlemen.  As a child, like George, I used to surprise myself, sometimes, by murmuring, “I want to go home!” when I was already home, with a deep feeling of yearning.  I think what I really wanted was to return to the infantile notion that home could be a secure place, that the idea of parents/family ever leaving or upheaval ever happening cannot even occur to you—at least not until it happens.
